summary (week 6)

Google has released a new experiment with micropayments  to help site owners earn some money from their readers. Google offers the opening portion of the page for free. However, the code for Google Wallet is covering the rest of text with gray bars and blurring out the pictures until the reader pays money to view the rest of the page. The reader can apply for the refund within 30 minutes of the initial purchase.Once a reader has purchased the content, they have access to it forever. The micropayments also has an influence on Google search rankings.A newspaper could use Google Wallet to charge for popular articles, and it also be allowed to take better advantage of Google search by offering an increased amount of preview text compared to current online paywalls.
